Where things seem to go wrong is when folks try and live toooo close together in a mono-culture neighborhood. In our experience, it is risky.
For example, Tico's are noisy people and they love to play their radios and TV's at full blast. They also have large families which begin their days at 5am or before !!! Crying children and barking dogs are the norm. Try as you may to explain YOUR point of view, they will show little or no interest in modifying this lifestyle.
To desire respect for your privacy and lifestyle is not an anti-social posture, but rather a way of assuring you will not have cultural clashes. Neighbor problems are very
unpleasant and can lead to legal problems.
