Carnival is back in town!
As you know, one of the most awaited activities each year is the carnival. Such color and all
the action of New Orleans...

( well almost...ha...ha. )
Our cultural reporter was there to
record all of the fun.
Folks from all over the country were present for the fiestas here in Santiago de Puriscal. A yearly
tradition, that is truly part of the lifestyle here in the country.

The vividly colored costumes of the bands & dancers lit up the festivities.
The music had a distinctive afro-Caribbean beat, and there was very tasty "typico" food.
Nearly 1000 horses & riders filled the
streets in the center of town.

I LOVE IT ALL !!!
Whole families turned out to take in the sights and sounds. Not a shady
place could be found in the best areas. We were lucky to get a seat where pictures could be taken.
After the tope, when daylight fades into a multi-colored sunset, folks
headed down to the fairgrounds for some music & typical country food.
There were dances & concerts, with a bit more to drink then might have been
advisable !
A great fireworks display ended the festivities, until
next year...
